Hello there and welcome to the world of colour through Hue & Me. Let us start with introductions. I am Raakhi Gadodia. Artist, goldsmith, designer, mom, wife, sister, daughter, earthling.
2020-2021 has been a hard year, with many losses for us all. I have to say, Hue & Me has pulled me through on most days. That and my family.
Today, my son, who is 4, had a class activity to do. In a discussion about nature, he had to collect items from nature and create a body image. Viaan and I had so much fun doing this project together, side by side, sharing, and creating new memories.
People that know me, know my love for flowers, and a majority of my designs are botanically inspired because of this. Colour inspiration, texture, and construct all stem from nature and my desire to be a physical part of that beauty. So this exercise was a trip down memory lane for me. As a child, I did this very activity. Stealing the Ponal Wood glue out of my grand dads workshop, and creating wondrous pictures with the flowers picked from our orchard.
During 2020, my siblings and I lost both our parents, and also said goodbye to the home we grew up in. The part of my life that cemented the creative in me. The place I felt safe, with the people who taught me to live, love, and be a part of the world. While I may never see the people or places I have lost, again, I have glimpses of the light that memory shines on things. Today was no exception.
These are my Lady Creatures. The start of new collection?? Maybe!…..
